Karalar ranks 74th by electorate among the 104 localities of Besni. The neighborhood has a single ballot box, and 192 voters were registered there for the 2023 parliamentary election.
The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2023 parliamentary election it went to Yeşil Sol Parti with 70 votes, while across Besni the leading party was AK Parti, with Yeşil Sol Parti here running 42.0 points above its district average. In the presidential runoff, 103 of 135 valid votes went to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu — 41.5 points above the district average. At the 2017 referendum 80 of 149 valid votes were 'no' — 21.6 points above the district average.
The tightest race came at the 2014 local election: BDP took 42 votes to AK Parti's 39 — a margin of just 3 votes. First place has changed hands 5 times here since 2009. At the 2024 local election the neighborhood went to CHP with 64 votes, while Besni as a whole was won by AK Parti. The electorate grew from 152 registered voters in 2011 to 192 in 2023 — a change of about 26 percent.
