Kocatas ranks 112th by electorate among the 124 localities of Ağrı. The neighborhood has a single ballot box, and 50 voters were registered there for the 2023 parliamentary election.
The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2023 parliamentary election it went to AK Parti with 23 votes, while across Ağrı the leading party was Yeşil Sol Parti, with AK Parti here running 33.1 points above its district average. In the presidential runoff, 27 of 32 valid votes went to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan — 37.9 points above the district average. At the 2017 referendum 13 of 20 valid votes were 'yes' — 11.2 points above the district average.
