Guneykaya ranks 44th by electorate among the 75 localities of Eleşkirt. The neighborhood has a single ballot box, and 145 voters were registered there for the 2023 parliamentary election.
The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2023 parliamentary election it went to Yeşil Sol Parti with 45 votes, while across Eleşkirt the leading party was AK Parti, with Yeşil Sol Parti here running 24.5 points above its district average. In the presidential runoff, 40 of 72 valid votes went to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu — 18.0 points above the district average. At the 2017 referendum 67 of 117 valid votes were 'yes' — 17.5 points below the district average.
The tightest race came at the 2009 local election: DTP took 46 votes to AK Parti's 31 — a margin of just 15 votes. At the 2023 parliamentary election 11 of 88 ballots cast were ruled invalid (12.5%), well above the district average. First place has changed hands 4 times here since 2009. At the 2024 local election the neighborhood went to DEM Parti with 54 votes, while Eleşkirt as a whole was won by AK Parti.
