Karbasan ranks 87th by electorate among the 122 localities of Patnos. The neighborhood has a single ballot box, and 144 voters were registered there for the 2023 parliamentary election.
The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2023 parliamentary election it went to AK Parti with 38 votes, while across Patnos the leading party was Yeşil Sol Parti with 52.1%, leaving AK Parti at 19.1%. In the presidential runoff, 37 of 69 valid votes went to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu; across the district that share was 72.4%. At the 2017 referendum 58 of 88 valid votes were 'yes'; across the district the 'yes' share was 34.6%.
At the 2024 local election the neighborhood went to CHP with 74 votes, while Patnos as a whole was won by AK Parti. Turnout at the 2024 local election was 60.0%, 7.8 points below the district average.
