Payas-Karsi is one of the localities of Dörtyol; it had 545 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.
The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to CHP with 52.6%, while across Dörtyol the leading party was AK Parti with 44.0%, leaving CHP at 18.4%. At the 2010 referendum 73.7% of the neighborhood voted 'no'; across the district that was 48.3%.
At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to CHP with 38.0%, while Dörtyol as a whole was won by MHP.
