Esentepe is one of the localities of Hatay Merkez; it had 7,576 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.

The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to AK Parti with 78.2%, while across Hatay Merkez the leading party was CHP, with AK Parti here running 51.7 points above its district average. At the 2010 referendum 81.0% of the neighborhood voted 'yes' — 52.7 points above the district average.

At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to AK Parti with 66.1%, while Hatay Merkez as a whole was won by CHP. The picture has not changed since 2009: AK Parti has finished first in all of the last 4 elections.
