Karlisu-Karaksi is one of the localities of Hatay Merkez; it had 2,574 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.
The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to AK Parti with 59.8%, while across Hatay Merkez the leading party was CHP with 66.4%, leaving AK Parti at 26.5%. At the 2010 referendum 64.6% of the neighborhood voted 'yes'; across the district that was 28.2%.
At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to AK Parti with 40.9%, while Hatay Merkez as a whole was won by CHP. Turnout at the 2009 local election was 94.4%, 9.1 points above the district average.
