Ovakent-Mustafa Kemal is one of the localities of Hatay Merkez; it had 2,798 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.

The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to AK Parti with 85.8%, while across Hatay Merkez the leading party was CHP with 66.4%, leaving AK Parti at 26.5%. At the 2010 referendum 88.3% of the neighborhood voted 'yes'; across the district that was 28.2%.

At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to MHP with 55.2%, while Hatay Merkez as a whole was won by CHP. Turnout at the 2009 local election was 91.3%, 5.9 points above the district average.
