Aknehir-Pinarbasi is one of the localities of Samandağ; it had 607 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.
CHP took 549 of the 573 valid votes cast in the neighborhood at that election (95.8%). That puts the neighborhood 8.5 points above the party's district average. At the 2010 referendum 96.1% of the neighborhood voted 'no' — 5.3 points above the district average.
At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to ODP with 80.6%, while Samandağ as a whole was won by CHP. Turnout at the 2011 parliamentary election was 94.4%, 11.4 points above the district average.
