Aknehir-Pinarbasi is one of the localities of Samandağ; it had 607 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.

CHP took 95.8% in the neighborhood at that election. Across Samandağ the same party stood at 87.3%, putting the neighborhood 8.5 points above the district average. At the 2010 referendum 96.1% of the neighborhood voted 'no'; across the district that was 90.8%.

At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to ODP with 80.6%, while Samandağ as a whole was won by CHP. Turnout at the 2011 parliamentary election was 94.4%, 11.4 points above the district average.
