Kumkoy is one of the localities of Sarıyer; it had 1,932 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.

The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to CHP with 45.8%, while across Sarıyer the leading party was AK Parti with 42.7%, leaving CHP at 39.4%. At the 2010 referendum 64.2% of the neighborhood voted 'no'; across the district that was 53.3%.
