The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to CHP with 84.4%, while across Malatya Merkez the leading party was AK Parti with 70.7%, leaving CHP at 19.2%. At the 2010 referendum 92.7% of the neighborhood voted 'no'; across the district that was 23.1%.
The picture has not changed since 2009: CHP has finished first in all of the last 4 elections. At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to CHP with 63.2%, while Malatya Merkez as a whole was won by AK Parti. Turnout at the 2009 local election was 94.5%, 12.6 points above the district average.
