How Karahan votes
Karahan is one of the localities of Malatya Merkez. The village has a single ballot box, and 133 voters were registered there for the 2011 parliamentary election.
The village parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to CHP with 67 votes, while across Malatya Merkez the leading party was AK Parti with 70.7%, leaving CHP at 19.2%. At the 2010 referendum 64 of 115 valid votes were 'no'; across the district the 'no' share was 23.1%.
At the 2009 local election the village went to CHP with 76 votes, while Malatya Merkez as a whole was won by AK Parti. Turnout at the 2009 local election was 92.1%, 10.2 points above the district average.
