Yamac is one of the localities of Malatya Merkez; it had 3,602 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.

AK Parti took 2,000 of the 2,936 valid votes cast in the neighborhood at that election (68.1%). That puts the neighborhood 2.6 points below the party's district average. At the 2010 referendum 76.3% of the neighborhood voted 'yes' — 0.6 points below the district average.
