How Akdamar votes

Akdamar is one of the localities of Gevaş; it had 1,265 registered voters at the 2018 parliamentary election.

The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2018 parliamentary election it went to AK Parti with 53.7%, while across Gevaş the leading party was Yeşil Sol Parti, with AK Parti here running 9.4 points above its district average. In the presidential election Recep Tayyip Erdoğan took 59.0% here — 8.6 points above the district average. At the 2017 referendum 64.2% of the neighborhood voted 'yes' — 6.0 points above the district average.

The electorate grew from 913 registered voters in 2011 to 1,265 in 2018 — a change of about 39 percent. At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to Saadet Partisi with 49.5%, while Gevaş as a whole was won by AK Parti. First place has changed hands 3 times here since 2009. The tightest race came at the 2014 local election: BDP took 452 votes to AK Parti's 451 — a margin of just 1 vote.
