How Karakoc votes
Karakoc is one of the localities of Van Merkez; it had 630 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.
The village parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2011 parliamentary election it went to AK Parti with 64.3%, while across Van Merkez the leading party was independents with 63.4%, leaving AK Parti at 31.2%. At the 2010 referendum 99.4% of the village voted 'yes'; across the district that was 94.5%.
At the 2009 local election the village went to AK Parti with 66.9%, while Van Merkez as a whole was won by DTP. Turnout at the 2011 parliamentary election was 75.6%, 6.7 points below the district average.
