Yukarioba ranks 36th by electorate among the 49 localities of Çekerek. The neighborhood has a single ballot box, and 88 voters were registered there for the 2023 parliamentary election.
The neighborhood parts ways with the district as a whole. At the 2023 parliamentary election it went to İYİ Parti with 67 votes, while across Çekerek the leading party was AK Parti, with İYİ Parti here running 69.2 points above its district average. In the presidential runoff, 79 of 83 valid votes went to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu — 74.7 points above the district average. At the 2017 referendum 68 of 74 valid votes were 'no' — 72.9 points above the district average.
The tightest race came at the 2019 local election: CHP took 24 votes to AK Parti's 11 — a margin of just 13 votes. At the 2024 local election the neighborhood went to AK Parti with 44 votes, while Çekerek as a whole was won by MHP. The electorate shrank from 122 registered voters in 2011 to 88 in 2023 — a change of about 28 percent. Turnout at the 2024 local election was 68.5%, 18.7 points below the district average.
