Ilica-Yeni Yapan is one of the localities of Kahramanmaras Merkez; it had 736 registered voters at the 2011 parliamentary election.

AK Parti took 80.2% in the neighborhood at that election. Across Kahramanmaras Merkez the figure was 80.3%, almost exactly the district average. At the 2010 referendum 92.6% of the neighborhood voted 'yes'; across the district that was 89.4%.

At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to MHP with 51.1%, while Kahramanmaras Merkez as a whole was won by AK Parti. Turnout at the 2009 local election was 96.6%, 7.8 points above the district average.
