At the 2009 local election the neighborhood went to MHP with 49.2%, while Kahramanmaras Merkez as a whole was won by AK Parti. At the 2009 local election AK Parti and MHP finished level, on 149 votes each. Turnout at the 2009 local election was 97.5%, 8.8 points above the district average.
